Wowzers allows teachers to have complete control over the Student's lesson plans, but also allows the teacher to control the pace of every student. It allows Teachers to juggle the demand that each student may need and keep it organized.
This is the beginning of a series of blog entries that will describe "Actions for Selected Students" in detail.
The first step of assigning students is about understanding some simple things about the Classroom View in Wowzers.
First, each student has a check box next to their name on the left side of the screen.
From here, you will go to the drop-down menu at the top of the list that is labeled "Actions for Selected Students" and select the option "Assign Activity".
This pop-up box will appear, which will allow you to assign a student to any activity, any day of any section, across any of the 3rd-5th Grade Content Levels. An extra check box shows an additional option of assigning all students you had previously selected to the content level you select here.
For example - You have two students in your classroom. One is at a 4th Grade Content Level, the other at a 3rd Grade Content Level. You decide that you want to assign them to a 5th Grade Content Level activity, but you would also like to keep them at a 5th Grade Content Level permanently. Clicking on the check box show in the picture above will do this. If you don't want this to happen, simply do NOT check the box and the students will remain at their previous 4th and 3rd Grade Content Levels, respectively.
When assigning an activity, you will have to define where you want the student to go. You will define what Content Level first, then the Section, then the Day, and finally the actual Activity they will go to.
Any time you are about to pull a student out of "Free Time", an Assessment, or a Playlist, you will receive an extra warning at the top of this box.
This is how you assign students to an activity. Next time we will be looking at updating settings to students as well as how to create a Playlist for your students.
