If you use Wowzers regularly, you may have noticed that the Teacher Dashboard updates every once in a while. Today's post will cover some of these recent updates as well as walk you through updating student profile settings.
First, when you log in to Wowzers, you will notice how different the main Dashboard looks. You will now be able to get direct links to most of the tools you would have found in the individual classrooms here at this screen.
Do you need to view the Usage Reports or Scores for a particular classroom? You can access that from here.
Each classroom you are assigned to has an expanded view available, which will give you a brief overview of the classroom, allowing you to supervise and manage each one without having to dig too deep into anything. This allows you as a teacher or administrator to look at what is needed quickly without taking your focus away from your students.
Updating student settings is easy.
First, select the student or students whose settings you wish to change by clicking on the check box to the left of the student's name.
Next, select the drop down menu "Actions for Selected Students". Here you will notice an option labeled "Update Settings". This will bring up a pop up menu.
At the top of this menu, you will see the names of the students whose settings you will be changing. The options available to you are "Adaptive", "Assessments", "Free Time", "Content Level", and "Classroom".
"Adaptive" will either turn on or turn off Wowzers' Adaptive Engine, which helps students when they are struggling with a particular part of the curriculum.
"Assessments" does the same - It will either turn on or off Assessments. For example, the first assessment that most students take when they first start using Wowzers. If you do not wish for this to happen, it is recommended that you change this setting to "Off".
"Free Time" will change the amount of time a student has in this section. At the end of the week, after completing the Day 5 Assessment (A quiz consisting of 20 questions, all covering material learned in that Content Section), they will be sent to "Free Time". This is where you can set the amount of time that the student will spend in this mode. It can be set from as little as no time at all to 30 minutes (or Unlimited).
"Content Level" will change the overall Content Level of Curriculum that the student will experience.
"Classroom" is a setting that will actually move the selected students to another classroom in your Organization (School). If you are moving students to a new physical classroom that also uses Wowzers, this can be helpful.
If those settings are not what you wanted to change, there is a longer, more thorough method of changing the settings. This will require you to click on the small blue "i" icon next to each students name. This will bring up a pop-up menu again.
Here you will have the same access as before, but with more options. You will now have the ability to change the Username, First and Last Names, Passwords, and optional School ID of the student you selected. This is useful if you have to change a password or a username if a student is having difficulty logging in to Wowzers.
